John Buck of the Blue Jays was the most impressive as he drilled three homeruns on a career performance. It is even more impressive since he went into the night with just one HR and was hitting less than .200.
Robinson Cano of the Yankees hit 2 HR's to power AJ Burnett to a victory over the Orioles. He has now hit eight on the season but that pales in comparison to Kelly Johnson who homered again for #9 on the season. Where did this power surge come from?
Adam Laroche of the Diamondbacks unloaded for two more homeruns as well as Arizona beat up on the Cubs pitching once again. What has happened to the Cubs pitching? It has been pretty attrocious this year.
Paul Konerko took over the league lead in the majors with 2 HR's of his own. The White Sox slugger now has 10 on the season. His career #'s have moved up to 336. Maybe he will be another hitter that gets to the 400 level.
Finally the young guns were impressive. Jason Heyward of the Braves hit his 5th of the season and youngster Justin Smoak hit his first career HR.
It was a hitters night, it is good to recognize their efforts.
