The Yankees starting five is pretty impressive. CC will put up great numbers again I am sure. AJ Burnett could be the #1 guy for many clubs. Andy Pettite is a winner and knows how to pitch, he is the crafty veteran. The number four guy is Javier Vazquez who seems to be a great fit for the Yankees, and #5 is the 23 year old Phil Hughes. That is a pretty impressive group of pitchers.
On the back end the Yanks have Joba pitching in the eighth inning to set up Mariano who is a lights out closer. I believe that if the NY boys can get six or seven innings from their starters they are going to be tough to beat.
I don't think it is going to be easy to outhit the Yankees either. Texiera, Rodriguez, Jeter, Cano, and Granderson give them lots of pop, but I think there are some holes in the lineup. Posada is slowing down and Gardner in left and Swisher in right wont scare too many pitchers. An injury to one of their infielders may cause them some concern.
It hurts me to say this but I think on paper the Yanks are still in better shape going into the 2010 season than the Red Sox. I will tell you why I think that tomorrow.
What do you think, who is the better team in the AL? How about in the AL East? What about the MLB? Thoughts...
