Every win counts

Last night in the big leagues there were eight games on the docket. At first glance it looks like nothing spectacular happened, other than the Red Sox continued to struggle. Yet there were eight pitchers who picked up a win. Eight pitchers who are playing in the best league in the world and were able to pick a win in that league.

Here is who won last night:

Craig Stammen of the Nats picked up win #1 on the season and career win #5

Jeff Niemann of the Rays picked up win #1 on the season against the hapless Sox and career win #16

Brandon Morrow of the Jays picked up win #1 on the season and career #9

Joel Piniero of the Angels beat the Tigers for his second win of the season and #89 on his career.

Brad Penny of the Cards beat the D backs for his 2nd win of the season and career #107

Tim Stauffer helped the Padres defeat the Giants for his 2nd bullpen win of the year and his career win #10

Doug Fister continued his great pitching this season for the Mariners for win #2 of the year and career win #5

Fernando Nieve of the Mets defeated the Cubs for his first win of the season and win # 7 of his career.

It might not be exciting stuff but in order to win even one game you have to be in the majors. Even Jamie Moyer had to win his first game.
