Verlander wins another

I assumed that there would be lots to write about over the last few days but all the starters I figured would pick up wins, failed to do so. Even Roy Halladay got beat by the lowly Pirates despite pithing another complete game.

Justin Verlander was the only pitcher on my list to pick up a victory over the last two days. He pitched a complete game against former perfect game pitcher Dallas Braden. Verlander gave up just 4 hits and struck out five as he moved to 5-2 on the 2010 campaign. This win represents #70 of his short but impressive career. When he is on he is one of the best in the business.

Hitting wise none of the guys I watch closely hit any homers except Vlad Guerrero who hit his 8th of the season, oh and by the way he is hitting a whopping .340 and now has 2301 career hits. His latest HR was #415 of his great career, I believe that 500 is a very real possibility.

Paul Konerko continued his great year as he jacked his 14th of the season. He has been a consistent hot bat in an otherwise unproductive lineup. Konerko's blast gives him 340 HR's and he is still only 34. Looks like he is a lock for 400.
