Battle of the best

It was one of the games I had wanted to see for some time. I wanted to see best against best and it worked out that Ubaldo Jimenez would face Tim Lincecum. If this game was the determining factor as to which pitcher is best Jimenez certainly came out on top.

Ubaldo brought a 9-1 record to the mound with an ERA 0f 0.89. In order for his ERA to not go up he would have to throw a shutout. That is exactly what he went out and accomplished. He hurled nine innings and struck out nine Giants batters. He was only in trouble in one inning and thta was the ninth but he persevered as always and picked up his 10th win of the season. Ten wins before the end of May is very impressive. His ERA is now 0.78 after 11 starts.

Andy Pettitte continues to roll and picked up his 7th win of the season as he was supported once again by the Yankees bats. That being said Pettitte is pitching very well. He pitched seven innings and gave up just 4 hits in attaining win # 236 of his career.

Offensively Chipper Jones hit a rare HR this season as he went deep for the third time. This HR represents #429 and he now needs just 58 hits for 2500.
