Put an asterik beside this one

Armando Galarraga pitched a perfect game in fact he did better than anyone else has ever done because he pitched a 28 out perfect game thanks to the erroneous call made by first place umpire Jim Joyce.

The record books won't include Galarraga as the 21st pitcher to throw a perfect game. In fact he won't even join the ranks of the next no hit pitcher. I feel very bad for him. I really appreciated his class after he was denied the perfect game. I also appreciated the class of Jim Joyce as he acknowledged his error.

I watched the game last night and must admit that I was speechless as I watched things unfold. After the catch by Austin Jackson, I thought this is going to accomplished. His catch reminded me of the Dwayne Wise catch last year in the Mark Buehrle perfect game.

I guess there is a need to have instant replay, at least so a manager can challenge a call a game or something. Should this call even be reversed a few days after the game? I am not sure where I stand on that one, because then you would need to go back and address lots of other games and stats. Hopefully this never happens again but because people are human, it probably will.

Galarraga got all the offensive help he needed off the bat of triple crown threat Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera hit his 15 th of the year and 224 of his career, drove in his 48th run and raised his average to .351.

Matt Cain did pick up another win for the Giants as he evened his season mark at 4-4. In his last 2 starts he has pitched 17 innings allowing just 5 hits during that time. He lowered his ERA to 2.36 and now has 48 wins.
