I love good pitching and I know there are some outstanding performers getting ready to heat up and win 18-20 games this season. I am excited to watch Greinke, King Felix, Halladay and Lincecum. I look forward to big years from Gallardo, Latos, Beckett and Sabathia. I am waiting for Stephen Strasburg and Aroldis Chapman to be called up and start their young careers.
Those things are all good, but what I am most thrilled about is that Jamie Moyer has been named the fifth starter for the Phillies. The 47 year old has had a dominant spring training and earned the spot on arguably one of the best staffs in baseball. He has 258 career wins and it is almost certain that he wont reach 300, but I am hoping he can add to the win total.
I have a feeling that Doc might put up 20 wins this coming season. If he could do that his career numbers would move to 168 and he would have that number as a 33 year old. If he could pitch to a 43 year old he would need to average just 13 wins a season to reach the 300 win mark.
Most people think that there will never be another 300 game winner. I disagree, I think that one of the guys off my list will make it. Here is the list of the guys I am watching:
1. Jamie Moyer 258
2. Roy Halladay 148
3. CC Sabathia 136
4. Mark Buehrle 135
5. Johan Santana 122
6. Josh Beckett 106
7. Justin Verlander 65
8. Felix Hernandez 58
9. Jered Weaver 51
10. Zach Greinke 50
11. Chad Billingsley 47
12. Matt Cain 44
13. Jon Lester 42
14. Tim Lincecum 40
15. Matt Latos 4
2. Roy Halladay 148
3. CC Sabathia 136
4. Mark Buehrle 135
5. Johan Santana 122
6. Josh Beckett 106
7. Justin Verlander 65
8. Felix Hernandez 58
9. Jered Weaver 51
10. Zach Greinke 50
11. Chad Billingsley 47
12. Matt Cain 44
